    • William L. Buck Elementary School

      Feb 1985 - Jun 1990
      Teacher first and third, tenured

I received my tenure at the, William L.Buck Elementary School in Valley Stream New York. I worked with students in third and first grade and felt the importance of allowing for myself to determine all about the child rather than hear about the child prior to getting to know them. My objective was to wait and observe if there was growth in December. I was not interested in grasping news from other educators about their academics nor was I interested in hearing about their personalities. After assessing the student without feedback, I would make my decision and then determine if my evaluation was congruent to the former educator's evaluation by December of that school year. Children change, especially over the summer months. In addition, I felt that it was essential to develop the students self esteem and to create a warm environment where learning was made to be fun. • Long Island University

      Sept 2007 - Sept 2017
      Associate Professor

I teach in the Dept. of Curriculum and Education and in the Dept. of Psychology. In addition, I have supervised a plethora of student teachers, have been on the academic committee, have taught many different classes and have presented presentations for the University. While a Professor at the University, I enjoy teaching my students to manifest the positive into the universe. As an activity approved by the Dean of Education, I shared a activity with thirteen student teachers. I allowed any students to leave if they felt they weren't inclined to try the activity of manifesting the positive into the universe utilizing , "The Secret". Eleven of my students worked with me, two chose to leave. The eleven students who worked with me landed a position in the teaching field. The other two students, did not. This was an exercise in positive manifestation. I call it, "working with the mind". In addition, I am WAC certified, work with independent studies and have enjoyed not only working with the little kids, but enjoy the "big kids" and public speaking! Show less

    • Monster Worldwide

      Sept 2009 - Mar 2011
      Director of Children's Innovations

As a Director of Children's Innovation, I used my educational expertise to develop ideas for web designers to create an exposure for occupations and jobs for young children to explore prior to arriving in high school without having the knowledge what each career entails and what courses are needed to go into each job or career. Developing virtual tours on line was an asset for children to learn and have fun while gaining the exposure to the various occupations. It was exciting and I felt this will bring our future students into their field of study that will enable them to have a passion for what they do. If so, they will do it well. Show less
