  AI Internship for Young Achievers

  I participated in the AI Internship for Young Achievers program by NTU and HPE from December 2021 to May 2022, where I gained hands-on experience in the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and machine learning.In the first phase of the program, my team of five focused on machine learning algorithms and their implementation in Python. We built an IMDB revenue prediction model using linear regression, achieving an R-square of 0.62, which underscored the model’s effectiveness in capturing key revenue trends.The second phase shifted our focus to cloud-based solutions and ethical considerations in AI. We explored Microsoft Azure and its various tools, and applied this knowledge by developing a legal assistance chatbot. This chatbot, designed to address property law questions, utilized Azure’s QnA Maker Services, along with integrated text-to-speech and translation APIs, to enhance accessibility and user engagement.For my leadership and technical contributions, I was recognized as one of the top performers among the 60 interns, earning a letter of recommendation for my exceptional performance throughout the program. Was a team member for the Uncensored magazine and served as an editor for Editorial Times, our middle school publication. Also hosted a workshop on writing with AI for middle school students during the Editorial Board's summer camp in July 2023, where I not only explained how generative AI works and demonstrated how to leverage AI-generated writing tools to elevate one's own writing, but also discussed the students' opinions on what the future of writing and literature might look like.   I was selected as one of the top 15 interns out of 900 applicants based on my performance in the Writing Mentorship Program. In this role, I contributed to the magazine Ceteris Paribus, which reaches an audience of over 300,000 readers.My responsibilities included writing and editing articles on a range of topics—from the applications of AI to economics, blue economics, and the circular economy to the ethics of taxation. I ensured that each piece maintained economic accuracy and provided valuable insights for our readership.Additionally, I actively engaged in outreach by connecting with professors to encourage submissions for the Artha journal.   Selected as the sole Indian student for the highly selective, two-year BeyondResearch program, I studied under Dr. Filip Bar (PhD, Cambridge). I focused on differential geometry, proof automation using Lean, and the mathematical foundations of computing. The program's rigorous process involved an application problem set and interview centered on linear algebra and calculus.I also investigated philosophical questions such as Zeno’s paradox, the role of infinitesimals, the nature of discrete versus continuous space and time, and the debate between constructivism and Platonism. This experience deepened my technical and analytical skills while broadening my perspective on the philosophical dimensions of mathematics. Show less

  As the Founder and CEO of the Indian Albinism Foundation (IAF), I leverage my personal experiences to empower and unite the albinism community. My mission is to raise awareness, dismantle stereotypes, and create platforms where People with Albinism (PWA) can access essential support, health, and legal resources.At IAF, I have led initiatives to help PWAs secure government benefits and ensure their rightful inclusion in national records. I partnered with a leading organization to deliver skill-building and design-thinking workshops that have enriched the lives of individuals with visual impairments.Our platform curates personal stories and resources that showcase the diverse talents and everyday realities of PWAs, fostering a sense of community and belonging. This initiative also opens critical discussions on terminology, advocating for a shift away from outdated labels toward language that respects the dignity of every individual.My work at IAF has garnered recognition from key community and governmental leaders, affirming our commitment to driving meaningful change and advocating for a more inclusive society.   Participated in the SRS program, where I engaged in individualized research in mathematics. I focused on a computational number theory project, inspired by the TV show Young Sheldon, to verify the Pomerance-Spicer Conjecture under Mr. Marinov (MSc Math, Oxford).Utilizing C++, Python, and Wolfram for large integer computations and number-theoretic optimizations, I extended the verified bound from 10^10 to 10^15.   Selected as one of 172 fellows out of over 11,500 applicants (1.48% acceptance rate) to the Non-Trivial Program, I joined an online fellowship for high school students to launch impactful research and policy projects. Awarded a $500 scholarship and access to books valued at $200, I attended the Finalist Program, where I studied the fundamentals of ethics—including utilitarianism, Kantian ethics, and Platonistic virtue ethics—and the epistemological underpinnings of Global Priorities Research.I conducted research on "The Limitations of Self-Governance Techniques in Mitigating the AI Arms Race: A Game Theoretic Analysis." My project explored game-theoretic dynamics in AI governance using a multiplayer Prisoner’s Dilemma framework. I modeled how companies decide on AI safety investments and proposed quadratic funding mechanisms to better align private profits with AI interpretability, without relying on governmental oversight. This work enhanced my skills in game theory, mechanism design, and policy analysis.I also attended sessions led by prominent figures, including Turing Awardee Yoshua Bengio and philosopher Peter Singer, which further deepened my understanding of the complex interplay between technology, ethics, and strategic decision-making in AI development.
