Major Responsibilities  To develop a one-dimensional validated MATLAB code to design a Natural draft dry cooling tower (NDDCT) with detailed specification of finned tube heat exchanger bundles for a 25 MW power plant. To address the nonlinear property variation of supercritical CO2 near the critical condition by implementing the nodal approach in both shell and tube and air-cooled heat exchanger units.  To investigate the effect of cooling system design on the performance of the supercritical CO2 recompression cycle with an optimized geometry of the cooling tower. To study the dynamic attributes of a dry-cooled novel supercritical CO2 cycle with additional bypass equipped with a central receiver and thermal energy storage.Key Achievements  Developed a mathematical model for NDDCT of supercritical CO2 cycle for both direct and indirect cooling system. Designing the air-cooled heat exchanger bundles inside the NDDCT by nodal approach to capture the drastic variation of supercritical CO2 with bulk temperature. Thermo-economic performance analysis between direct and indirect cooling systems prior to the integration of NDDCT with a supercritical CO2 power block. Comprehensive thermal assessment of supercritical CO2 power cycles (recompression and partial cooling) integrated with dry cooling towers. Optimizing the yearlong performance of a concentrating solar thermal power plant using thermal storage and a dry-cooled supercritical CO2 power block. Collaborated with International and local researchers and published 8 high-impact peer-reviewed international journal articles and 4 international conference papers.  The research was a part of a larger project at UQ towards the development of supercritical CO2 power blocks and cooling systems funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) under the auspices of the Australian Solar Thermal Research Institute (ASTRI).
