  I worked in the Financial Services Assurance practice when completing my Chartered Accountants Ireland training contract. During this time I mainly worked on the statutory audit of a large Retail and Corporate banking client. Over my three years with EY I was an integral part of every step of the audit process from planning to conclusion. As part of this I audited many different sections of the bank from deposits, both retail and corporate, to corporate loans and derivatives. I served as the Lead Senior on the Audit in my final year with EY. I worked on the Central Bank of Ireland’s Mortgage Arrears Resolution Targets project. The purpose of this assessment was to ensure that the Irish banks were meeting the targets set by the Central Bank in terms of offering and concluding sustainable solutions for those in mortgage arrears. My main task on the engagement was to assess mortgage arrears solutions (restructures) and conclude on whether the restructure was long term sustainable or not. I also reviewed assessments and overrode conclusions when necessary. I was part of the project management that had to report to the Central Bank daily and meet with the Central Bank and the bank under review’s management.I worked in the internal audit department of a large Irish bank when on secondment. I was involved on an audit of the treasury accounting processes with particular focus on derivatives and hedging relationships. From this engagement I gained an excellent understanding of treasury accounting and hedge accounting in particular. Show less

  While I was a Senior Consultant for CrossCountry Consulting I worked for a Big 4 client on both an external audit engagement and an accounting advisory engagement. I worked on the audit of a bank that was to be merged with a large financial group. This engagement provided insight into a multi-billion dollar deal and the due diligence work involved. The accounting advisory engagement was a restatement of a Nasdaq listed Pharmaceutical company.
