Activities and Societies: Exeter University Ecological Society MSc research project examined the reliance of income and capital nutrient stores in offspring production in Light-bellied Brent Geese (Branta bernicla hrota) breeding in the East Canadian High Arctic. With the application of stable isotope analysis, the study evidenced that the species adopts a mixed income-capital breeding strategy to cope with restricted resource availability in a highly seasonal environment. Activities and Societies: University Student Ambassador, Student Academic Representative for the Institute of Science and the Environment My third year undergraduate research project focused on the foraging ecology of Red-backed Shrikes (Lanius collurio) breeding on Dartmoor (June-August 2012). I independently designed, planned and completed the research project with the permission of the RSPB, who protect the UK’s only known breeding pair on Dartmoor. My project was the first study in the UK to observe a breeding pair, their feeding activity and diet choice, and how this was affected by weather and the surrounding habitat.
