  This research project addresses the challenges faced by AI models, particularly GPT-4-Turbo, in comprehending SEC filings, as identified in a Patronus AI study with a 70% failure rate. The goal is to enhance AI understanding of formal documents in regulated industries. The project focuses on developing a Google Chrome extension featuring professional chatbots for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) websites, financial documents in XBRL format, and academic-related content. The initial phase involves data collection, including scraping RPI and academic websites and using the "financial_phrasebank" dataset for financial articles. GPT-4.0 and WebGPT are initially employed, integrating custom APIs for RPI and academic papers. Web retrieval capabilities are tested using a customized "retrieval" plugin, connecting to external APIs, with the more effective model chosen for further focus. The final phase includes rigorous testing using ChatBot and Dimon tools, evaluating chatbot performance, conversational flow, and user experience. Integration into a user-friendly Chrome extension follows, with feedback guiding optimizations for enhanced performance and user satisfaction. As a conclusion, the project aims to have working demos for each chatbot, a comprehensive presentation covering project goals and methods, and the option to write and publish a research paper detailing the project's intricacies. I documented our software development processes and data collection methods, facilitating future reference and replication.
