  Automation Consultants provide IT services across the development lifecycle with a focus on automation, seeing this as the key to reducing costs whilst improving efficiency.As a senior consultant my responsibilities included the following:- Designing and developing bespoke DevOps solutions for clients that primarily involve the Atlassian tool set, but are not limited to this. This can vary from introducing one or two specific tools, to rolling out a complete transformation programme.- Providing support for a variety of Atlassian based activities, such as migration tasks, integrations with other products, to customisations and development of bespoke add-ons for Atlassian products.- Supporting internal development and training work with junior consultants. This can involve on-site support, and sits alongside development of the organisations internal knowledge base. This also includes the maintenance of Atlassian Certifications and Accreditations across the business.- Maintain internal Atlassian environments and other systems used within the organisation- Providing support to external marketing via blog posts, webinars and conference presentations.- Acting as an Atlassian, Agile and DevOps SME within the organisationWithin my role I was also heavily involved in software testing, particularly Functional and Performance Testing. This involved the development of testing solutions and frameworks, creating associated test plans, running both manual and automated tests for performance, functional, non-functional and end-to-end testing, and eventually reporting on the results of testing to management at all levels. I have also worked on providing integration and synchronisation solutions for customers between different management systems, using applications such as TaskTop Sync (for which I am have Tasktop Certified Deployment Specialist status). The application under test was being reconfigured to follow new processes, and tests were written against the functional specifications provided to ensure that the reconfigured system followed the processes.   During my time working for Centr4Testing, I was primarily involved in providing automated testing solutions for clients, spending the majority of my time working with one particular client, the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).My work involved creating an end-to-end testing solution that would provide an easy-to-use UI for a team of testers to use to initiate regression tests. The solution integrated JIRA, Jenkins, GitHub and TestComplete, with JIRA being used as the interface by which testers would initiate tests and observe test results.During this time I was able to develop my knowledge of a number of tools, such as TestComplete, Jenkins, GitHub and Selenium, as well as developing my knowledge of TDD and BDD using Cucumber.   Automation test lead

  As Automation Test Lead, it was my responsibility to recommend a test tool to be used in creating automated regression tests of the SIT Manual Tests being created against Microsoft Dynamics AX7. These tests would then be running on subsequent sprints, as part of an agile development cycle, to ensure that new development work didn’t have any adverse effects on previously completed work. The solution used Selenium WebDriver scripts integrated with Manual Test Scripts in Visual Studio Team Services. The work involved:- Setup and configuration of the test framework, using Visual Studio, VSTS, Selenium and AX7- Grouping together test results with results from Manual testing for reporting- Analysing defects and supporting their resolution- Documentation of the solution, and where necessary supporting additional testing documentation (e.g. adding automated testing to the overall test plan)- Scripting and execution of Selenium test scripts Show less
