      This fellowship is both an educational and work experience. I studied the arts of visual and graphical design and used Sketch-up to model campus properties. I also collaborated with students who were passionate about science to undertake a plethora of projects (i.e, designing/building a wooden dome, hand-sketching artwork seen in museums)

      Research Assistant

      1 of 40 high school and college students selected for competitive 8 week research program. I was a research assistant at the Belizaire Lab in Dana-Farber’s pathology department, participating in DFCI's Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) program. During my summer I conducted in-depth studies on a myelodysplastic syndrome called Vacuoles, E1 enzyme, x-linked, auto inflammatory, somatic syndrome (VEXAS), cell ubiquitination, the protease system, UBL proteins, immunology, and hemopathology under the guidance of Dr. Roger Belizaire, demonstrating a strong interest in clinical research. He was my greatest inspiration for taking a strong interest in pathology and pharmaceuticals! The main goal of our research was to answer two questions: what underlying mechanisms contribute to the disease pathogenesis, and what patterns can we observe by modeling UBa1 WT and M41L/M64 strands? Through the program, I was able to interview multiple physicians working on the frontline of cutting-edge research, and aside from the invaluable life advice given, I never would have guessed my undisputed passion for biomedical research if it weren’t for their expertise and time spent at Dana-Farber. At the end of the program, I curated a literature review, research abstract, and poster presentation to display at the program’s conference, where I expertly conveyed and showcased my findings to my peers.
