  Assistant Lecturer

  As a Student Assistant at the Engineering Faculty of NWU University, I had the opportunity to assist and tutor students in key modules, namely Computer Methods (FEM Analysis) and Engineering Graphics 1 (Siemens Simulations). This role allowed me to leverage my knowledge and skills to help others, while also reinforcing my own understanding of these complex subjects.My accomplishments during this time include:1.   At the Turbine department, I was entrusted with the responsibility of Plant Maintenance and the design of a new Reserve Feed Water Tank for the plant. This project allowed me to apply my knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and safety standards to create a design that would enhance the plant’s efficiency and reliability.In addition to this, I was assigned to monitor the performance of the condensers. This role involved conducting regular checks, analyzing performance data, and providing actionable feedback on how to increase efficiency. This experience has honed my analytical skills and deepened my understanding of plant operations.Through these assignments, I have gained valuable hands-on experience in the field. Show less

My primary responsibility was to test the Flownex software across various applications, identifying any bugs or errors.This role required me to compile detailed reports on the issues encountered, and where possible, update the software to rectify these errors. These reports were then submitted to my supervisor for final revision before the software updates were released.This experience has honed my skills in software testing, problem-solving, and attention to detail, and I am eager to apply these skills to future challenges.   As a Mechanical Engineer in the Turbine Department, I have had the privilege of contributing to critical projects such as the design of a Reserve Feed Water Tank. This role has allowed me to gain valuable experience in turbine engineering and acquire a deep understanding of high-pressure system regulations, ensuring compliance and safety at all times.During a significant outage at Duvha Power Station’s Unit 3, I was involved in meticulous planning and preparation, reviewing outage documentation, participating in pre-outage meetings, and preparing tools and equipment for planned tasks. My responsibilities expanded to conducting detailed inspections and assessments of turbine centerline components, supervising maintenance activities, and demonstrating troubleshooting skills to address unforeseen issues. I maintained meticulous records and documentation throughout, ensuring a thorough and efficient resolution to the outage.This experience has equipped me with the ability to handle complex situations and deliver results effectively.   In my role as a Sales Engineer, I enhanced my skills in communication and problem-solving. I conducted training sessions for clients on Flownex and held discovery calls with clients to understand their needs, suggesting simulation solutions accordingly. I built relationships with clients and expanded the network of Flownex users. I visited clients on-site for a detailed understanding of their problems and provided the required simulation assistance.I have successfully conducted over 10 comprehensive training sessions, each catering to groups of 15 or more individuals. These sessions encompassed advanced training on Flownex, demonstrating the resolution of industry-based problems within a simulated environment. I also facilitated multiple 5-day CPD courses, providing detailed instruction on thermodynamic systems as simulated in the software to clients, including Sasol and ESKOM. I have led introductory training sessions, ensuring a solid foundation for all participants.To improve my networking and communication skills, I attended multiple conferences. I acquired skills in simple/complex system simulation, technical feasibility studies, thermal-hydraulic designs, system optimizations, investigation simulations, concept design, and root cause analysis. During this period, I was involved in validating and verifying the Flownex software code using 3rd party software. I set up various component models in EES to validate the theory used to implement a component in Flownex. Additionally, I set up various scenarios to test the capability of a component in Flownex and tested the results in a 3rd party software. Recognizing my ability to generate various problem scenarios for different components and model various systems in Flownex with minimal supervision, I was promoted to the Support team as a Presales Engineer.
