  As a student researcher, I support the research of postdoctoral and graduate students on prostate cancer cell proliferation in the laboratory. I receive training in laboratory safety, PCR, and the care of specimens in order to create a productive environment. I regularly assist in PCR, tissue fixation, sectioning, and other procedures. I also regularly give presentations on current papers implicated in the laboratory's research. As a prevention education intern, I create and present on content that focuses on creating a culture of consent and safety at UC Santa Cruz. In this role, I promote survivor-centered and trauma-informed content that focuses on healing after instances of violence. I also help facilitate quarterly trainings of 20+ students on support of survivors through CARE volunteering. The aim of prevention education interns are to act as a liaison for the CARE office for the campus. As a notetaker, I attend and take notes for students with disabilities to best support their education. I create content that is accessible to their chosen mode of learning. As a peer navigator, I help incoming students navigate the orientation course in order to enroll as a student at UC Santa Cruz. I regularly hold office hours and create workshops to allow students to connect in order to make the transition to higher education seamless. As a peer navigator, I am familiar with the resources available to students in order to best respond to and support their needs.
