  During my six-month internship, I gained exposure to various plant tissue culture techniques, molecular techniques, and laboratory safety practices. Some of my key achievements during this period included successfully culturing and micro-propagating seed embryos for tissue culture, optimizing and validating primers for the laboratory flow, and generating an organized workflow to downsize duplicated data and report it accurately.I also coordinated private tutorial outfits for colleagues on biosafety protocols and molecular analysis used in the lab, recorded variations observed during the sorting analysis of seed assortments collected from the gene bank using SSR markers, and facilitated routine laboratory clean-up, observation of biosafety protocols, and maintenance of work areas and benches.In addition, I conducted DNA extraction, PCR, and Nano-spectrophotometry for analytes/samples of different sources using CTAB and kit method.   For my undergraduate project, I studied human genome polymorphism in the Nigerian population resulting from the insertion of an Alu transposable element. This involved extracting DNA from animals, plants, and bacteria, such as E.coli, Ixora coccinea, and Homo sapiens.I also led a research team that investigated various food samples of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and identified and analyzed different microbes using various media, staining techniques, and molecular classification.As part of a collaborative barcoding project, I represented my program between my University, Bowie State University, Maryland, and World DNA Learning Center, New York, USA. I also conducted native gel electrophoresis to analyze extracted samples and performed gene expression analysis through PCR.Furthermore, I engineered a lyophilized E. coli pGLO plasmid and conducted green fluorescent protein (GFP) interaction analysis (Bacterial Transformation). I also dissected plants and animals for simple bio identification, carried out Packed cell volume counting (PCV) of blood samples, and successfully deployed the PV92 technique to study genetic similarities and differences in Nigeria.Lastly, I drafted a research grant and proposal for a successfully concluded project, attended conferences, and presented papers in seminars.   Project title: Molecular characterization of sesame, tomatoes, Bacteria, and fish.I worked with industry experts to create instructional designs and skill-based assessments for the healthcare and life sciences industries. This involved creating and curating question banks, feedback reports, and curriculums that complied with company quality management systems. I also provided operational and technical support, including customer engagement, product and customer training, problem-solving, live assessment supervision, and cross-communication.In addition, I provided information support in data visualization analysis, risk management, and downsized duplicated data while performing error damage checks on laboratory equipment. As a mentor, I trained new interns on laboratory safety rules, precautions, and bioinstrumentation.To carry out our research, I optimized and validated primers for specific sesame seed assessions using PCR, and analyzed and quantified tube analytes using Nano spectrophotometry and Agarose gel electrophoresis. I also attended and presented at weekly routine seminars with unit heads and provided feedback and recommendations for potential procedural improvements. Show less

  Project Title: Development of a semi-automatic workflow for image analysis of hydrogel microparticles.As part of my work, I developed a custom ImageJ macro script to aid in characterizing and evaluating microparticles. This involved morphological analysis of the microparticles using ImageJ, Cellpose, and the Anaconda Python environment. Through this work, I was able to determine the influence of flow rate on the microparticles as they flowed through the microfluidic channel.Moreover, I was able to significantly streamline the data output pipeline, reducing the time required from 168 hours to just 5 minutes, thanks to an innovative plugin that I developed.
