  This role allowed me to work alongside well-know ledged ecologists, conservationists and environmentalists. Which are passionate to preserve and enhance native forests so that their inhabitants can flourish. Ngā Manu has partnered with the Department of Conservation and others in many breed-for-release programs which seek to re-establish at-risk species of birds and reptiles into the wild. This role involves animal welfare, husbandry maintenance, breed-for-release programs (Kiwi, Kea, Kaka, Whio and Yellow crown Kakariki) and enhancing the visitor experience through tour guiding which focuses on enriching species, educating the importance of preservation and conservation for New Zealand at-risk and endangered species. This role derived from my time volunteering my weekends while completing my last year of high school in 2021. While I've been studying at Lincoln University, I've been working throughout the Summer period and look forward to apply my new tertiary knowledge to the role. Show less

  Kākāriki Nature Play is a school holiday program which focuses on outdoor exploration and creativity within nature. As one of leaders, we nurtured young minds with problem-solving, expressing their creativity and encouraged exploring the outdoors. The holiday programs involved activities such as shelter building, water navigation, whittling and educating the future generation on the importance of the preservation of our environment.

This role involves facilitating workshops about healthy relationships, sexual health and sexual harm prevention to incoming tertiary students at Lincoln University. As well as this we run projects throughout the year, ranging from anti-discrimination to educating students about LGBTQIA+.
