  I performed numerical and experimental studies in order to understand the buckling behavior of imperfection sensitive composite cylindrical shell under compressive loads; I took into account both the standard model and the one with cutout using Abaqus CAE and Python script for Abaqus.During this experience I ran into different kinds of problems and I had to give my best to solve them. I worked many hours per day and sometimes during the night in order to meet the deadlines. I organized everything combining determination, flexibility and attention to detail.I lived in an unfamiliar environment and was thrown at the deep end; it was essential for me because I gained great adaptability skills. At work, I collaborated with people from different countries, getting to know different cultures and ways of thinking.I also learnt to write technical reports. Show less

  The main research topic has been the impact phenomena and the relating failure modes. The research was aimed at improving the failure approaches for fiber reinforced composite material under low and high impact velocity events and to perform the compression after impact test.I looked at the available analytical approaches able to describe low velocity impact events performing numerical analyses in order to better understand the physical phenomenon.I worked alone and I learnt how to develop a project starting from a research idea; I also learnt to write and peer review scientific papers.
