      Sept 2012 - Oct 2014
      Research Assistant

My work with TCU as a Research Assistant was extremely rewarding and was my first true working experience in the Public Health sector. The randomized-control study measured the adherence to antiretroviral medications in HIV-positive incarcerated individuals. I had the opportunity to work in numerous State jails and prisons across Texas, but primarily surrounding Harris County. My main job assignment was to recruit an individual while they were incarcerated, and then do several follow-ups with them, over the course of 6 months, after they were released from jail or prison. This job, and my work with TCU, truly opened my eyes to an enormous Public Health issue and the amount of disparities within the incarcerated population. Given the opportunity, I would gladly work on more research dealing with this demographic again.A few of the job duties:• Conduct participant recruitment, enrollment, and consent of study participants within correctional facilities • Conduct baseline and follow up computerized data collection at multiple project sites • Assist data manager in data management and quality assurance activities • Carry out participant retention activities• Assist with construction and assembly of study materials Show less
