Show less  Assigned to the Onshore Gorgon and WA Oil Drilling Project  Involved in the rig build in Houston, ensuring the build was completed to Ensign and Chevron specifications. Supervised crews and participated in commission and acceptance testing of Rig in Houston yard, including strict quarantine preparation for Barrow Island. Participated in Chevron planning in Perth office during project delays. This included DWOP (drill well on paper) meetings, RUMS (risk and uncertainty management system) meetings, assisting plan lease layouts. Supervised crews and participated in unloading of rig, rig up, commissioning and testing of Rig on Barrow Island.  Wells drilled included highly technical horizontal oil wells. Learnt about, participated and actively promoted E-Colours and Check 6 at the rig site. Incident Free Operations. Successfully operated in an environmentally and politically sensitive area.  Drilled multiple sinusoidal horizontal wells to 26,000 ft MD, high temperature and high pressure. Underbalanced drilling – experienced kicks and learnt how to best deal with these situations. Dealt with lost circulation, pack off, differential sticking The last four months of this job required time management to work on both Rig 153 in North Dakota while building and commissioning Rig 963 for Chevron in Houston TX. Incident Free Operations Responsible for supervising and leading crews during drilling operations. Experienced H2S while drilling Drill and complete multiple short radius, sinusoidal, shallow horizontal wells with anti-collision windows of 7 ft Show less  First exposure to Well Control IADC certificate Frist exposure to Automated Drilling Rigs Mentored variety of people, requiring me to adapt to various learning styles Perform pump repairs – (disassemble, reassemble). Change oil and filters. Trip pipe, work stabbing board and monkey board, work tongs and pull slips and pick up and lay down drill pipe. Work mud pits, check weights and mix weight properly, observe pit level and report any change, mix chemicals, line up mixing pump manifold, and maintain good communication with mud engineer. Work on BOP’s (nipple up and nipple down), and inspect BOP’s daily. Work on derrick, maintain derrick condition, grease crown and block, maintain knowledge of well condition. Maintain inventory of pump parts, work on mud pumps and change swabs, liners and pots. Keep oil level right (drawworks and rotary table), grease and check oil in agitator and troubleshoot problems with mud pump. Perform jacking and skidding, assist the Driller with paperwork. Assist with rig-up / rig-down of the drilling rig; with the repair and maintenance of large mud pumps, shale shaker, desander, desilter, and degasser units; and worked on the monkey board, latching and racking drill pipe. Responsible for greasing crown and visually checking sheaves for wear. Incident Free Operations. Assist in mixing drilling mud or lost circulation material and chemicals, and act as Flag Crane Operator. Shaker duties: Monitor mud weight, viscosity and sand weight while drilling. Perform general maintenance of drawworks, rotary transmission, and rotary table oils. Nipple BOP’s – up and down. Inspection of all safety equipment, inside BOP valve, choke manifold and accumulator unit. Monitor hole fill-up while pulling out of hole, lining up trip tank, run air/hydraulic hoist (lowering and lifting), check for leaks on BOP stack, and measure pipe. Check dies in slips and tongs, fluid level in Accumulator Unit, and all safety and riding belts to make sure they are in good condition. Mix sack chemicals, run casing, tag casing through V-door, and unhook cables from casing, tubing and drill pipes. Change drill / trip recorder and change chart. Respond to emergency situations including, but not limited to, wellbore influxes, hydrogen sulphide detection and major mechanical or structural failures. Continuous improvement for quickly evacuating the facility to avoid injury during emergencies. Assist in rescue operations for injuries or overcome personnel. Assist with repairs and maintenance of large mud pumps, shale shaker, desander, desilter, and degasser units. Responsible for moving joints of casing to the catwalk during casing job. Assist with attaching casing to pick-up lines so casing can be lifted to the rig floor. Operated catwalk, to get tubular to and from rig floor.  Used and maintained drill pipe tongs, pipe spinner, air spinners, slips. Incident Free Operations.
