  Leads the Performance, Environmental Protection & Noise teams on the new Trent XWB-84EP engine. I have direct technical and managerial oversight of the steady state & transient performance attributes. I'm also accountable for noise, and engine environmental protection. The team is between 30-40 people and is a mix between local permanent staff, permanent staff based at other sites (UK & abroad) & managed service contractors.Since taking the role I’ve lead the team through experimental design, engine development testing at sea level and in flight, and finally product type certification with EASA. Show less As a Development Engineer I owned the Verification of a large structural component on the Trent 1000 engine. Responsibilities included; identifying the need for experiments, defining instrumentation, prescribing the engine manoeuvres for the tests and working with the Experimental Build Line to ensure the correct assembly of the parts. I was also responsible for several modification packages which involved preparation of technical documents to underwrite the proposed modifications in order to certify them for passenger carrying service.During this role I also lead a large, high pressure and visibility, root cause investigation bringing together a wide range of technical departments and operational groups.
