    • Flexstar Technology

      Jan 2014 - now
      Sr. Mechanical Engineer

      • Worked with our customer for input and our Flexstar Team and redesigned a new Cartridge Assembly, with a new PCBA that eliminated the use of internal hard to assemble cables and using separate guide pins to ensure both gross and fine gathering alignment. • Designed the mating Flex 1 Backplane PCBA with the new connector configuration and alignment concept. As well as pastic guides, backplane stiffener, bulkhead, vent panels and mounting rails that mounted to the Flexstar F-60E chamber. Provided mechanical drawings, assembly drawings and CAD models for initial prototypes.• Interfaced directly with outside connector, components, plastic, precision machining and sheetmetal vendors, to get quotes and lead times and feedback for DFM. Also provided Tolerance Analysis of all mating features between Cartridge Assembly and Backplane.• Designed a custom Male Guide Pin/Female Guide Contact Finger Assembly to align the backplane and make contact with an exsisting Pass Through PCBA. • Interfaced directly with outside EMI shielding, precision machining and hardware vendors, to get quotes and lead times. • Worked with outside sheetmetal vendor and created and supplied detailed re-work instuctions to upgrade 30E Chamber for Flexstar to save the company money and be able to ship on time to customer. Checked and verified all rework and provided assembly instructions to Flexstar Manufacturing Team.• Designed F-20E Cable Potting Fixture to help measure and apply adhesive to cable bundle and nose to assure that moisture was properly sealed. • Provided Engineering support and designing DUT Modules for the FlexCore Progarm for both SSD and PCIe requirements. This effort involves working on various different concepts and coming up with different solutions for each. The DUT Module consists of insertion/eject mechanisms, plastic guides, metal parts and various backplanes. Show less
