      Aug 2007 - Aug 2008
Security for a 500 bed faith- based homeless facility

Security Worker at a 500 bed Non-profit faith based Shelter/ Treatment Center. I worked 5 days a week at the front desk. I answered phones, directing others to the proper director or department. I also filled out and signed the work tickets that the homeless needed to come and enter the facility. I also did a thorough search while the clients entered the building, as safety was top priority. I also was asked to assist in evicting clients whom did not follow the rules. I also ocassionally worked in the offices, to assist in filing and help with organizing with special events such as auctions. Show less

    • Models of the Maker

      Jan 2009 - Dec 2010
Manager for a Faith Based Shelter and transitional Housing Manager

I maintained the security and safety for the women and children, I encouraged the women to become empowered by God and to move forward in their lives. I was a Biblical teacher there, a devotional leader, a transporter for appointments, I did keep the women accountable and I was successful in one on one counseling and up keeping with their goals with documentations daily. I also helped in managing the transitional housing and pantry that they had. I also was asked to work often in the front office answering phones and helping to intake the women and children for the facility when the front office worker was ill or had another appointment to fulfill. We worked hard to keep integrity within the whole environment. It was difficult when we had to evict. But too we could not allow women to have drugs or alcohol there. It was just not acceptable and safe for the children others and themselves. My very close friend started this wonderful agency and has since evolved into a larger facility. I wish we had more like this one here in NW Indiana. Show less

      Supervisor

I have Supervised and encourage the mentally ill in a group setting. To observe and document proficiently is one of my duties. I also like to implement new ideas and help the agency in any way I can. I am totally impressed by the staff and their commitment towards helping the clients educate themselves, grow and maintain a healthy well-being for themselves. Their integrity and professionalism is impeccable. One thing this company has taught me thus far, is that I have a long way to go. This is not about any destination; it is in fact a journey of learning about oneself, to help others grow and learn as well. I am looking forward to learning even more, so I can be a bigger help for MHA in the future. Together, we can do all things. Show less

    • Saint Agnes A Faith based Dementia/ Alzheimers Adult Day-Care Agency

      Jan 2014 - Sept 2017
      Volunteer / Intern

I encourage and interact with those who have Alzheimer's and Dementia. I did quite a bit of observing and interacting while leading group activities as well. The Saint Agnes agency is very well managed and I am very impressed of the empathy and professionalism the staff have with everyone that comes there for help. I would recommend this agency for a place to help others as well as yourself in Christ Jesus.
