    • Medjumbe Private Island

      Jan 2011 - Aug 2011
Activities Manager and Food & Beverage Manager

      • Medjumbe is a small private island off the coast of Africa which is home to the hotel staff and 13 guest chalets. • My primary role was Activities Manager, running/ teaching activities including Scuba Diving, Windsurfing and Fishing trips. • My other duties on Medjumbe included managing the Food & Beverage department; organising and maintaining stock levels, and regularly working behind the bar.• I was in charge of rotas, maintaining stock and handling budgets for the department. We were in a very remote area of Africa and this made maintaining stock levels a very arduous and, at times, impossible task. • I learned a lot from my time in Medjumbe; my management and organisational skills benefitted greatly from working so closely with people and trying to solve the many problems Medjumbe faced.
