    • Child Action Lanka

      Jun 2016 - Jul 2016
      Volunteer

In the Summer of 2016 working with the charity Child Action Lanka I travelled to the North of Sri Lanka and worked in a children’s centre in the northern region as part of a small team, teaching and building classrooms. It was eye opening seeing the consequences of the civil war but it was also a truly rewarding rewarding experience.

    • FIG TREE REAL ESTATE LIMITED

      Jun 2019 - Aug 2021
      Intern

Various weeks across school holidays. Work experience involved shadowing permanent employees to gain a better understanding of the relationship between landlord and tenants, the relationship between lease holders and shareholders and the relationships between the letting agent and the firm. Various properties were also in the process of being converted into HMOs to help provide more affordable accommodation for the local workforce.

    • Traditional Bespoke Furniture

      Aug 2019 - Oct 2019
      Labourer

As a Labourer I spent two months of shadowing and working closely with one builder dismantling and replacing a kitchen in Kent. Even though the work was tough I thoroughly enjoyed working with Martin (Head Builder). He taught me never to complain when the work gets tough. As well as if something goes wrong, don't worry, step back and think through it logically. A key aspect to the job was working with the client and suppliers in order to ensure maximum satisfaction. Time management was also an important aspect of the job as deadlines had to be met in order for the project to be completed. Show less

Working for a job agency, meant that I had a whole range of roles and jobs over the two month period. From working as a Kitchen Porter in a care home, to packaging magazines into cardboard boxes, to working as a house keeper in a local hotel, to waiting at corporate Christmas parties. All these jobs meant I was working with a different group of people virtually every day helping develop my interpersonal skills. Each job was different meaning I had to constantly adapt to new challenges.

This was seasonal work spanning two Christmas holidays. Working on a drinks and food stand for the Christmas Light show. The job entailed selling and serving a variety of hot foods and drinks to a large number of people in concentrated periods of time. This significantly enhanced my ability to cope under pressure, whilst retaining a good sense of humour. It also helped my mental arithmetic!

Working as a Team Leader for the Summer Holiday camp. • Savills

      Aug 2023 - Aug 2023
      Work Experience

During my work experience, I gained valuable exposure to negotiations with prospective buyers and helped identify leads for newly listed properties. I also had the opportunity to accompany the head of office to assess the potential of a Georgian barn conversion. This experience introduced me to the dynamics of property development, including discussions on pricing a multi-residential project in a challenging market. I worked alongside the development team on a Standard Red Book Valuation, where I organised data and created a detailed comparable spreadsheet. I also enhanced my communication skills by drafting property descriptions and liaising with estate agents to verify sales prices. Show less
