My research area during my master education was about an effect of vegetation on slope stabilization. From the results obtained, trees contribute to the stability of sloping ground both hydrologically as a result of increase in matric suction of the soil resulting in an increase in the shear strength while mechanically is due to root reinforcement, the shear strength of the rooted soil mass is enhanced due to the presence of a root matrix. The importance of vegetation in slope stabilization and surface erosion control is enormous. It is cheap, environmentally friendly. It is found that the most significant benefit is likely to be achieved only when the tree is located at the toe of the slope. The results indicate that the Factor of Safety against failure can increase significantly when including the influence of a mature tree located at toe of a slope. The main part of my project was dealing with distinguished geotechnical software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio and Slip4EX. Show less

Doctor of philosophy - phd structural, seismic and geotechnical engineering

During my PhD education, my main research field was concerned about soil-foundation interaction under cyclic loading. The work is divided into three parts:1-Experimental works: This part has been performed by means of a small scale experimental set up capable of applying cyclic or monotonic, horizontal and vertical loads. The experimental works is sub-divided into three parts, shallow foundation, shallow foundation plus piles and deep foundation.2-Mechanical Interpolation by Using… Show more During my PhD education, my main research field was concerned about soil-foundation interaction under cyclic loading. In Particular, the numerical code PFC3D adopted for all the numerical results. Show less
