      Transcribed and researched interviews from the collection “Looking Backward to Move Forward,” a project recorded for the preservation of the experiences of the African Americans of Chicago’s West Side Community. Collection is 1 linear foot and includes 220 photographs, 27 audio tapes, 10 video tapes, and 6 oversize folders.Edited the transcriptions and created indexes for researcher use at the Harold Washington Chicago Public Library.

      Rehoused, conserved, and processed the collection of photographs, “Natural vs. Unnatural: Nature Rediscovered Along the I&M Canal Passage” by Edward Ranney, which includes nearly 200 photographs. Created a finding aid.Educated visitors at the Gaylord Building and assisted in giving and managing tours, including the Bike and Break for History program.

      Oversaw, coordinated and managed the 1st Infantry Division Army historical collection of over 13,000 artifacts. High visibility projects included restoration/curation of the French 75mm Gun, the UH-1C Huey Helicopter, and the Landing Craft for Vehicle and Personnel (LCVP). Initiated and led curatorial work on the Samuel Iredell Parker, MOH loan. Acted as Curator in his/her absence throughout tenure and for six consecutive months before moving on. As Acting Curator, managed a team and assigned work. Participated in planning and executing expansion, digitization, special events, accreditation and capital projects. Member of Collections and Exhibits Committees. Implemented/assessed Collections policies/procedures. As Assistant Curator, assisted Curator in all aspects of departmental administration.Created and managed an internship program which became a model for all departments. Program included a syllabus, projects that reflected all Collections duties, visits to other departments, off-site visits to other museums/conservators, orientation, contracts, evaluations and meetings. Oversaw receipt, identification, registration, cataloguing, validation of data and storing of incoming art and artifacts, as well as the existing collection. Managed first ever inventory of entire collection from planning through completion. Assisted in managing the historic vehicle program.Confirmed compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding firearms; oversaw firearms “bound book” required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms to maintain museum’s federal firearms license, as well as other appropriate documentation, managed the safe and secure storage and exhibition of the firearms collection.Directed and performed conservation and preservation measures to preserve artifacts.Recommended artifacts for display, monitored the artifacts to prevent deterioration and confirm preservation.       Serves as a Supervisory Museum Curator for the Museum Support Center-Belvoir (MSC-B). Responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing the Army historical collection assigned to the MSC-B in accordance with professional standards, regulations, and policies. Guides and directs employees as well as performs artifact identification, registration, cataloging and validation of data.Performs research on museum artifacts. Conduct off site visits as required to confirm the identification of historical objects.Oversee the receipt, identification, triage, registration, storing, packing, shipping and disposition of Army Artifacts.Consults with conservators, regarding more complex or sensitive preservation methods.Manages a team of curators, specialists, conservators, and facilities personnel at MSC-B. Effect minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases.Serves as the Contracting Officer Technical Representative and point of contact on all contracts relating to the curatorial program at MSC-B.Researches, analyses, prepares, and justifies financial (budget) plans for short and long term facility operational needs. Examined regulations and policies used to create the original plan to identify inconsistencies and re-engineer a better structured plan to maximize the training experience and develop an ideal future Army historical program workforce. Volunteered to manage the Army’s art collection, becoming subject matter expert. Manages and oversees triage, review, registration, cataloguing, storing or disposition art, leading one employee.Managed first 100% inventory of the Army historical collection, 65k artifacts and 17k pieces of art. Selected as volunteer program manager in coordination with the Fort Belvoir Volunteer Program. Managed the collections storage, preparation, organization, packing, unpacking and assisted in shipment of Army art for NMUSA opening exhibit. Leads and manage tours through MSC-B, providing art, artifact and facility interpretation. Guests include high ranking officers/officials. Show less Served as Museum Curator, independently performing technical and professional duties related to the management of the Army historical collection, inspections and Command Supply Discipline Program (CSDP) assessments in the Army Museum System through the Logistics Cell, which is responsible for overseeing all property management across the Army Museum System. Was responsible for overseeing, coordinating and managing requests from TRADOC and AMC, and originally, all Army Museum System museums. Requests included any artifact movement or change in status, to include accessions, loans and deaccessions. Requests facilitated with cognizance for managing and directing conservation and preservation measures. Managed hundreds of property jacket requests at once, continually working to move requests forward to the next stage of processing. Museum Curator in this role is also considered a liaison to the museum which one serves, and therefore also as a public relations officer, often explaining processes and conducting behind the scenes communications to all parties necessary, as a coach and leader, depending on the request. Taught portions of Basic and Advanced Army Museum Curatorial Courses dealing with Logistic Cell issues, demonstrating not only knowledge of my position, but also advanced communication and public speaking skills. Served as Radiation Staff Safety Officer, managing artifact radiation for the entire Army Museum System. Worked with Army Health Physicists to support museums in following regulation guidelines as it pertained to artifacts with radiation concerns. Included supporting personnel as a liaison, coach and leader to provide guidance in conducting inventories of radiological artifacts in the Army Museum System and providing guidance in confirming their status, stabilizing or managing and directing conservation and preservation measures to preserve artifacts of concern, accessioning and deaccessioning such artifacts.
