MSC became the first Catawba Valley Community College investment outside of the Hickory, NC campus. All funding was obtained through available federal and state grants and no Conover tax dollars were used in the construction.Helped lead our team to obtain $9.8 million in grants over a 36 month period while negotiating the most challenging economic years since the Great Depression. During this time, the City of Conover was able to obtain more funding than any time in Conover's history.http://www.conovernc.gov/ Show less First elected to the Conover City Council in November 2007 serving a four year term. Re-elected in November 2011 for a second four year term. Re-elected in November 2015 for a third four year term. Served the citizens of Conover as Mayor Pro Temp since December 2009.Since being elected in November 2007, the City of Conover was able to compete and win $2.1 million in grants to create much needed community space, create a true multi-model center and triple the city's existing library space.Conover has been able to maintain an aggressive economic growth strategy while maintaining one of the lowest property tax rates in Catawba County. Conover's bond rating remained the highest rating available for a city of its size.Conover's fund balance has gradually increased over the last decade in spite of enduring one of the worst national economic downturns in history. This increase has amounted to a growth of approximately $300,000 or 10%.http://www.conovernc.gov/ Show less
