Responsible for planning, management, supervision and administration of the Passenger Terminal.* Enforce passenger, terminal, cargo and aircraft security* Establish training plans to increase qualifications that satisfy mission requirements* Coordinate priorities with Base Operations and Federal Law Enforcement* Conduct US Customs Inspections* Certifier of Dangerous GoodsSan Diego Air Show 2007 & 2008 - Provided support to approximately 270 aircraft.Average annual load: 1080 aircraft, 14.8k passengers, 1184T of baggage, and 2.2mT of cargo. My responsibilities included research and applying directives, regulations, and procedures set forth by the Department of Defense, Department of Navy, Department of Transportation, United States Customs and Border Patrol, Transportation Security Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and Federal Aviation Administration. My duties included performing security checks of facilities, passengers, equipment, and aircraft; screening logbooks, requests, and researching information required to facilitate arrival/departure of aircraft; boarding security screen, manifesting passengers and cargo; load/unload cargo, and inspection of the flight-line, taxi-ways, and ramps to minimize Foreign Object Debris. My ability to plan, organize, and accomplish work is most demonstrated by an off shift notification of the arrival of President Bush within 72 hours as a result of the 2007 California Wild Fires. In concert with the United States Secret Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, White House Staff, and Military Police I had to clear ramp and flight-line space for Air Force-1, HMX-1, and Governor Schwarzenegger’s helicopter. I then had to reach out to satellite sites for additional support equipment requested by the Secret Service. Increasing security, clearing space, and arranging transport of equipment on such short notice was no small feat. As a result of my abilities the facilitation of the dignitary visits were seamless. Show less Monitored and screened Technical Directives and Publications.* Trained Collateral Duty Inspectors and Emergency Reclamation Teams* Investigated aviation mishaps and procedural errors* Performed orientation and annual OSHA training* Performed Gas Free Engineering* Implemented Continuous Improvement Processes* Managed the environmental and hazardous material, waste and storage program in accordance with DOT and JEGSMet standards on 4 major inspections, taught Safety and Operational Risk Management. My responsibilities were to research regulations and procedures; ensure safety of flights, certify completed task; ensure compliance of local, foreign, and federal procedures, instructions, regulations, standards, and directives; collect source documents; ensure proper computer data management; generate reports, statistical charts, and graphs; and conduct audits using Access. My daily tasks consisted of logbook review, training, and testing; verify completeness of maintenance actions and accuracy of documentation; conduct quarries for trend analysis; investigate mishaps; review directives; update qualifications within Excel database; check publications for Interim/Formal Rapid Action Changes; initiate Discrepancy Reports; draft procedures; conduct in-process inspections; and conducted drills. My ability to to make time critical decisions, research, and analyze data proved to do be of grave importance in 2005. While in Australia, an aircraft mishap was reported. Almost simultaneously, I gained positive control of all aircraft logs, activated the Emergency Reclamation Team, and initiated a Hazardous Material Report. The area was then grid squared, set up with an entry control point, and an exit decontamination point. Assigned collection teams recovered items base on priority. As items were recovered, tagged, and stored an Engineering Investigation (E.I.) was initiated. As a result, the E.I. along with other data was closely analyzed to determine the cause of mishap. Show less * Responsible for flight-line safety* Inspected, serviced and repaired F-400/402 Turbofan engines and sub-systems* Repaired, removed/replaced bladder type fuel cells* Monitored aviation Ground Support Equipment use/misuse and preventative maintenance cycles* Ensured aircraft flight safety by conducting Daily, Pre-Flight and Turn-Around inspections* Performed low/high power engine turns* Conducted Line Maintenance Operations; Launch, recover, fuel, service and towManaged programs: Fuel Surveillance, Gas Free Engineering & Confined Space Entry, Oil Consumption & Analysis, Tire & Wheel, Plane Captain, Brake Rider, Foreign Object Debris, and TowingAs the Powerline Division Chief my responsibilities were supervision of personnel, document on-the-job training, recommend Plane Captain candidates, management of equipment, administration of flightline and hanger deck plans and schedules, and direct work center assignments. My daily task were to operate and maintain applicable aircraft maintenance ground support equipment; obtain licenses as required; direct aircraft taxing; perform daily, pre-flight, and post-flight inspections and assist pilots in the performance of inspections; assist during periodic airframe inspections; practice applicable safety procedures and precautions on the flightline and in hanger areas; perform hot and cold refueling; perform oil analysis sampling and use various types of fuels and lubricants; remove and install power plants, components, and parts; recognize and assist in corrective treatment and/or preventive maintenance for corrosion; use precision measuring equipment; assist in performance of calender inspections; operate assigned fire fighting equipment; follow weight and balance limitations; perform starting and ground turn-up functions; ensure the proper utilization of technical publications; conduct informal on-the-job technical training; utilize computer-generated technical data for aircraft inspections, maintenance, and repair. Show less Conducted corrosion prevention inspections on aircraft.* Identified and treated aircraft corrosion prone areas.* Performed aircraft painting, touch up and markings.* Complied with the Air Pollution Act of 1981 (Amended, 1987).* Tracked Volatile Organic Compound emissions in accordance with EPA regulations. * First Responder, CPR and Defibrillator Certified.* Managed the Hazardous Material, Waste, Handling and Storage program in accordance with DOT regulations.Painted 12 aircraft and 36 external fuel tanks. As a Corrosion Control Supervisor my responsibilities included conducting corrosion prevention inspections on aircraft, identifying and treating aircraft corrosion prone areas, and performing aircraft painting, touch up, and markings in accordance with the Department of Defense and Federal Aviation Administration regulations. As the Corrosion Control Supervisor I would organize with Maintenance Control to gain access to aircraft to conduct Corrosion Inspections and perform aircraft painting, touch-up, and marking operations. I would make an effort to gain control of the aircraft immediately after it came out of a Phase Inspection since the aircraft was already out of service. Once in my control, I would initiate a Corrosion Maintenance Action Form (MAF) and conduct the Corrosion Inspection using Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRC). I would annotate any discrepancies discovered. I would then correct any discrepancies as required, sign off corrected work performed, and release the aircraft for flight. In most cases, as a qualified Plane Captain, I would also fuel the aircraft and conduct a Daily Inspection as a courtesy. As a result of my ability to plan, organize, and accomplish work I painted 12 aircraft and 36 external fuel tanks. Show less Managed aircraft maintenance, inspections and documentation using MALCOMIS.* Ensured that the aircraft phase inspections were completed properly and in a timely manner.* Screened aircraft log books to ensure compliance and proper documentation of maintenance utilizing NALCOMIS.As a Phase Crew Coordinator my responsibilities were to coordinate aircraft Inspections in concert with Maintenance Control, ensure inspections were completed properly and timely, and screen aircraft log books to ensure compliance and proper documentation of maintenance.Monthly I would review flight hours to schedule type A, B, C, & D phases with Maintenance Control. Once a date is decided on which aircraft would be removed from service the phase inspection would begin. First, the maintenance requirement cards (MRC) would be reviewed, then a thorough examination of aircraft logs and records; gain positive control of the Aircraft Discrepancy Book (ADB), then initiate a Phase Maintenance Action Form (MAF). Next, a pre-phase meeting with assigned members; a systems turn of the aircraft engines; tow plane into hanger and quarantined; remove required panels and components; individual inspections by functional area; document discrepancies; upon completion of individual inspections an inspection of the entire plane is conducted. Attention then is placed on tracking all evolutions of the phase by correcting all outstanding discrepancies, conducting in-progress inspections, and signing off maintenance actions as they corrected. Finally all maintenance is complete and panels restored; a final visual inspection of the aircraft; ensure all documentation is correct and complete; tow the aircraft back to the line for a post-phase engine turn up; all systems check good; sign off the Phase MAF; return the ADB to Maintenance Control; and place back in service. As a result of my ability to plan, organize, and accomplish work I managed and coordinated 93 aircraft Phase Inspections. Show less * Versed in appropriate civil disturbance and riot control.* Skilled in armed and unarmed self defense, close battle quarters, and the use of deadly force.Preserved order, enforced laws, kept peace, and protected life and property during high threat levels. As an Auxiliary Security Force (ASF) member of Naval Air Station Fort Worth, TX I served in a non-security rating. I was called upon and actived as a result of the United States Embassy bombings in Kenya and Nairobi to augment the base's security department during this heightened level of threat. The training received while attached to ASF prepared me for contingencies, exercises and special events that require heightened levels of security on base. The training ranged from the rights and responsibilities of an arresting officer, mechanical advantages of control holds, proper handcuffing skills, searching a suspect, antiterrorism management skills and shooting skills. Also, during this period I completed a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Administration and attended a civilian Executive Protection Specialist course. This training stressed Pre-Emptive Intervention skills with an emphasis on Behavioral, Predictive and Proactive Intelligence. The competencies learned were not limited to: Managing Threats to Employees, Property and Executives; strengthening the understanding of corporate security personnel of the core analytical concepts of criminal patterns, Link Analysis, Association Matrix, Time Lines and Flow Charts; learning interview skills of Deception Detection and Statement Analysis as well as clues to personality profiles; developing policies to mitigate Workplace Disruption, Violence, and Managing Aggression and Pre-Indicators of Dangerous Behavior. SSgt Tyler is extremely knowledgeable on F/A-18 aircraft systems and can be relied upon to ensure his Marines conduct safe, expeditious and by-the-book aircraft repairs and inspections. His natural affinity for teaching and leading is readily apparent and his efforts have directly contributed to the squadron's 42,000 hour mishap free record, as well as two major safety awards presented during his tenure here.2. SSgt Tyler supervises 35 Marines and was responsible for his division receiving a superlative grande on our most recent major inspection. In order to achieve this distinction he was required to perform a myriad of duties, chief of which was to personally and meticulously inspect each of his Marine's training jackets for thoroughness, conformity to regulations and currency. Given the strict standards of the inspectors and the complexity of the governing order, this was no small feat. The fact that he excelled in this typically frustrating area is a testament to his supervisory abilities, hands-on leadership and focused attention to detail.3. In addition to the duties he performs within his division, SSgt Tyler has aggressively pursued a wide variety of additional skills by completing maintenance courses that range from aircraft painting procedures to force protection. Moreover, for the past three years he has been heavily involved in two major community outreach programs (Toys for Tots and Young Marines) that benefit local area children. Finally, despite this hectic and intense schedule of professional and personal commitments, he made time to earn his BA degree." Show less
