      As a sports development/disability inclusion officer, was responsible for coordinating and implementing events to increase opportunities and participation in sports and physical activity of people with disabilities and target groups including older adults and disadvantaged youth.In this position, led development of 3 new meet-and-train groups, coordinated the calendar of events and trained groups for promotion and implementation of walk/jog/run in Limerick city and county. I also launched a new summer walk/jog/run series and served on a coordinator role to liaise with 8 host companies, 5 athletics clubs and 5 sponsors that resulted in 1,500 entries and €10,000 income.By organising volunteer training following the Halliwick Method at a hydrotherapy pool, I was able to establish a sustainable weekly class to instruct water confidence for parents and children with disabilities. I also introduced and managed all different aspects of a new Sports Ability Day including coordinated a team of 6 APA Masters students from UL to promote and help run the event. This disability sport showcase event consisted of 10 sport demos and 5 display stands and was attended by 7 partner organizations as well as 60 parents and children. Show less

      As a national sports development officer, I am responsible for devising and managing promotion and implementation of strategic events to increase participation in target sports and building strong partnerships with NGBs, Disability Services, Clubs and Sport and Leisure facilities. I am also accountable for increasing grassroots membership, mentoring development level athletes, coordinating volunteers and actively managing all aspects of event planning including leading committee meetings, overseeing budgets and promotion initiatives, assigning volunteer/partner roles, booking of facilities and catering as well as reporting to the Board.I developed key performance indicators for the sports development officer role to monitor and quantify successful implementation of company’s goals for performance reviews and led an annual open day event at DCU which included demonstration events, a come-and-try sports timetable of 8 activities and display areas from linked organisations. Running this event involved coordination of 25 volunteers and was attended by 14 organisations and total of 90 children and adults. I also oversaw a new athletics one-day competition for children and adults with physical/sensory disabilities and coordinated roles of 18 volunteers in order to book facilities and manage catering and prizes within budget and project deadlines.By establishing a boccia league in key target areas I implemented the strategic goal of using a national league as a recruitment tool for regional and national squads. This project consisted in managing 7 new competition dates with 30 players each time and resulted in 9 new athletes being classified through Paralympics Ireland. I also managed a national boccia team on a trip to Portugal for European Championships 2013 that included 7 players and 6 PAs on 6 day travel while ensuring smooth travel for a group of adults with physical disabilities.
