      Engineering / Production Manager

I was only in this role a short time before I was promoted to the position of Engineering Supervisor. During this time, I focused on learning as much as I could about subsea chokes and the relevant industry standards (API 17D / ISO 13628-4) to add to my knowledge of surface chokes. I provided technical support for the Norsk Hydro (now Statoil) Troll project - our largest ever subsea choke project at the time.In addition to the technical challenges faced by surface chokes, subsea chokes need to deal with hyperbaric pressure; interfacing with remote installation tools and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs); make and break of subsea electrical connections for instrument control circuits and corrosion management through the use of cathodic protection systems. Show less I worked in our Surface Choke design team for over three and a half years. Chokes are a type of severe service control valve commonly used on oil and gas wells to control the flow of fluid from the well. Design of chokes needs to consider stress analysis for pressure containment; material selection for strength, corrosion resistance and erosion resistance; seal selection for temperature, pressure and fluid compatibility; sizing for fluid flow; noise and vibration; actuation and control.I was the lead choke engineer on two high profile high pressure / high temperature projects and represented Cameron at many technical meetings with the customers in London. I also supported validation (qualification tests) for both of these projects in accordance with the applicable API industry standard. Show less
