  • Over a period of six and a half years, as a design and production engineer, I learnt and also contributed towards various aspects of design, cost estimation and production of various security equipment like fire resistant safes and safe deposit vaults, lockers, armor protected mobile cash vans, and office furniture.• Earned my first salary of Rs 850/- at Godrej and Boyce in Jul 1982 and I say with pride that they were among the best pay masters at that time.

  • As a Senior Colonel in the General Services branch of Corps Headquarter, catered for the IT needs of the military establishments spread across Rajasthan and Gujarat. • The execution involved IT training of over 1000 officers and 6000 soldiers through contractual arrangement with NIIT and provision of IT hardware worth more than 50 Lakh over two years period besides maintaining the information services network within the corps zone. • The prime operational role was to maintain the IT services during the war game practice conducted in the deserts spread over 2 months every year. • Was instrumental as a key person in the conceptual design of a WAR CENTRE wherein the principles of war could be practiced in an IT enabled environment with modern software enabled equipment at a cost of over Rs 200 Cr Show less • On promotion from Lt Col to Col, took over the reins of an EME battalion with 5 specialised engineering workshops spread across the North Eastern region of India in the insurgency infested areas.• Bore complete responsibility of 15 officers and over 1200 troops with material resources of over Rs 5 Cr per year. • Worked extensively on the project "Sadbhavana" which was focused at winning the hearts and minds of the local population in the insurgency areas. • Was awarded Army Commander's Commendation for distinguished services during the period of command. Show less • Commanded specialized workshops providing engineering support including repair and maintenance of 145 Nos Tank T-72 , variants of armoured fighting vehicles, Hi-Tech defence equipment and about 800 normal vehicles at two different locations, 1995 to 1997 in Punjab and thereafter in J&K. • Resources at disposal included about 125 trained mechanics, Hi-Tech workshop with modern equipment and a huge inventory of spare parts besides various funds to the tune of about Rs 60 Lakh for training and local purchases every year. • At both the locations, the inventory holding was brought down from levels of about Rs 5 Cr to 1 Cr by resorting to meticulous material management and this was a big achievement. Show less • Joined Indian Military Academy at Dehradun in Dec 1988 and underwent rigorous military training for one year which included physical training, military tactics and firing of a variety of small arms and shoulder held weapons.• Thereafter, got posted to Laddakh and as a young officer traveled extensively in Laddakh region on various missions including Long Range Foot Patrolling extending upto 21 days at stretch along the Chinese borders.• Underwent young officers Technical Course at MCEME from Jul 89 to Mar 1990.
