"The mission of the Student Ambassador program is to provide Wayne State University with student leaders who represent the University as official representatives and volunteers at various University events involving the Office of the President, Development, and Special Events. The Ambassador program brings together students from various academic disciplines and cultural backgrounds and serves to enrich and enhance leadership and communication skills, personal growth, and professional development for its members while creating long lasting ties with their future alma mater." Show less Freshman Quest is a Community of Scholars group/Class that Wayne State offers to incoming freshman/transfer students where they go on a wonderful group trip with other freshman students and transfer students where certified peer mentors like me and my co-workers along with Advisors, Deans, Professors, etc from Wayne State go along this trip to help better understand them of what WSU is all about, how to help better prepare themselves, along with the safety, clubs and organizations, athletic programs, the peer mentors, tutoring, etc that Wayne State has to offer! We motivate and encourage these students to rise up against the mass of others and to stand out, to help let them know that it doesn't hurt to want to be different as well as to stand out. Its a wonderful 2 credit class that we have to offer, as we take them out the month before the fall semester starts! "Each trip will be led by an upperclassman student leader. Dr. Christy Nolan, Director of Campus Recreation will also be on each trip. Additionally, one or two WSU “experts” will be accompanying the group. These experts are employees of the university who work for the WSU Police Department, Counseling and Psychological Services, the Academic Success Center or the Department of Kinesiology. During the day the group will be challenged on the water or hiking trail, and in the evenings around the campfire they will be challenged with in depth conversations about how to succeed on campus. There will be formal and informal conversations about study skills, team building, dealing with stress and many other varying topics."http://rfc.wayne.edu/freshman/quest.php Show less
