      Virtual work experience

I had spent time on this online course learning some basic but crucial legal skills that will benefit me further on in my pursuit to become and aspiring solicitor. This for me was a great opportunity to also briefly look at some of the the work that will be required to do as a solicitor and helped me discover areas in which I need to work on and try to obtain much more needed legal work experience.

This programme is aimed at students currently in year 12 to help prepare them for the next phase of education wether it’s university or an apprenticeship by providing the meaningful tools and resources to prepare them in how to get those opportunities. This course lasts right up until I leave to go to university and on the way it will have helped me right my personal statement, university applications, gave meaningful webinars and much more.

    • The Social Mobility Foundation

      Apr 2023 - now

I have just recently joined the social mobility foundation however I have already learnt a great amount about my desired sector (law) and the pathways in which to get there. I am grateful to have been accepted on to this course as it allows me to learn, gain skills, get given opportunities and much more to help me extend my legal knowledge. This programme is designed to support students that have a harder time getting up the social ‘ladder’ and is there to provide advice and help formulate skills up until the moment you get a career in that desired sector and also achieve this by allocating a mentor to each alumni. They also help with university, apprenticeship and internship applications to make sure that i have an equal chance of being considered for these opportunities. Show less

      Barrister mini pupil

This was a 4 day work experience placement in a Barristers chamber to allow me to build a foundational framework of knowledge of what work Barristers do on a day to day basis. I met with Barristers, Judges and Clerks to get insight of the work they do and how to get to where they have gotten today.During my time I had talks of Advocacy, cross examination/examination in chief, training to be a barrister, human rights, privy council and so much more. I also had the opportunity to sit in many cases, one of which in the Royal Courts of Justice, and saw Barristers in ‘action’. Show less

    • The Inns of Court College of Advocacy

      Jul 2023 - Jul 2023
      Work experience

I was fortunate to be offered Advocacy training by the Bar council at the Inns of Court College of Advocacy. This was the perfect opportunity to experience the debating/arguing side of the career of a Barrister; this gave great insight in how a real case would work by allowing us to try ourselves to do so by having a mock trial. In this i got to act as the council for the claimant and performed the opening statement and cross examination.
