Head of cricket and teacher of geography

My position required me to oversee the entire cricket at the school, where I oversee and deliver the coaching of cricket, taking a hands on role with the 1st XI. I also deliver a high number of specialist one to one sessions and focus groups for a wide range of cricketers at the school, from academy to club players. I am also in charge of overseeing 18 teams and managing 25 plus staff. Other skills this role has allowed me to develop include planning, organising of fixtures, administration, school relationships and budgets. The role has many transferable skills such as sound presentation skills, communication, inspiration, organisation, a high work ethic and constantly having to meet targets and deadlines. I pride myself on the ability to communicate with a variety of people from different backgrounds on a number of levels. I currently balance the role with a reduced academic time table, where I have a PGCE with QTS in Geography. I also play an active role in pastoral life as a Resident tutor. Show less

      Ecb disability coach

My position at the ECB required me to work with the country’s leading LD cricketers for around 50-75 days per year, in both cricketing and non-cricketing environments. I have delivered both team sessions and one to ones, and required to keep up to date with the latest coaching techniques and developments in the game. As head coach of the Lions Disability squad , the position includes liaising with county clubs, regional centre and other ECB officials, including S & C coaches, Physios and key stakeholders. My assistant coach role with the main squad also required me to tour abroad when the National side are competing. I have toured Australia, Spain and The Netherlands with the ECB to date. Show less

      Managing director

Tom Flowers Cricket CoachingTFCC was set up in 2015 with the aim of bringing high quality cricket coaching to Leicestershire, Rutland and the East Midlands. Since then, TFCC has assembled a highly qualified team that deliver at over 30 different clubs and schools across the region, all with a passion for one thing – improving local cricket. This was my first business venture, and gave me an invaluable rounded insight like no other before, into how a business operates having built it from scratch into a company turning over in excess of £150,000+ a year Show less

      Managing director

Becoming a director of the group and overseeing 5 sports related companies within the group across the UK. The Group was originally set up to help cricket coaches start up in business, allowing them to grow and expand their cricket business through both hands on and remote consultancy support. This has expanded into business support, planning, investment and licencing. To date the Group has sharehold in three cricket coaching companies, one multi sports coaching start up, and one in sports retail. This has allowed me to acquire many skills through the experiences I’ve been exposed to, including: managing other Directors and staff, liaising with clients, PR, marketing, advertising, finances and budgets, administration advice (including HR and Payroll),meetings with key stakeholders, business planning and reviewing and much more.Tom Flowers Cricket Coaching was set up in 2015 with the aim of bringing high quality cricket coaching to Leicestershire, Rutland and the East Midlands. In 2022 I was invited to become an ECB mentor and since have been placed on their approved mentoring list for coaches across the UK to access. This is mainly for Level 3 & 4 coaches on the current cohorts. When a mentee matches my profile/skill set, the ECB will put them in direct contact with me as I look to mentor them through their coaching and/or leadership journey.
