      Masters Arts and Cultural Enterprise

Activities and Societies: MA Arts and Cultural Enterprise acknowledges that we are living in a fast-changing, globalised world, which presents a great number of opportunities and challenges for cultural innovation. This Masters Programme takes these changing conditions as a starting point to engage you in developing new knowledges and skills in order to manage cultural projects globally. My research focus is on decentralising queer culture in the UK drive to foster a more resilient and inclusive queer cultural landscape.

Current professional role as part of a team that delivers a programme of social, cultural and educative events across University of the Arts London. I assist the coordination of 35 events staff by managing rotas, overseeing all administrative procedures and taking on peripheral projects. I also oversee financial administration for the team handling multiple processes to plan and divide funds and update reports. I follow internal systems for procurement, reconcile transactions and process expenses as well as improve administrative systems, advocating more efficient digital solutions and cloud based structures. I work closely with senior management and a team of two busy officers in the delivery of a full and diverse events programme for students at UAL. In my role I take on additional projects on behalf of the department, such as when I gained the responsibility of managing a campaign to procure artwork for the walls of Gardens House in a major new development at Camberwell College of Arts. I have managed budgets for additional projects and have developed in the team to gain the responsibility for delivering projects from start to finish. Show less

      Curator Exhibition

I collaborated with Fringe Arts Bath, who selected my proposal, to put together my 2-week show as part of a citywide festival of contemporary art in Bath. Producing the text and communications, I worked with a graphic designer to create a powerful visual identity and orchestrate a campaign to advertise the event. To engage artists I used social media channels and an exhibition website, achieving over 100 submissions from across the UK. The coordination of the project involved liaising with the directors on a regular basis and communicating timelines to the artists. In the pop-up gallery I made scaled floor plans and adapted designs to accommodate changes, paying close attention to health and safety requirements. I ensured all the necessary materials were available and managed volunteers to assist installation; working on multiple tasks at once. The opening event attracted a large audience, and over the course of the show nearly 2000 people had visited the space. Alongside the physical exhibition I engaged an online audience in the work, creating critical responses and exploratory essays, inviting fellow artists to write, while proofreading all content. In this project I utilised my experience and professional skills in administration to coordinate tasks and practical skills in installation. I was successful in generating my audience online with digital content. Exhibition extract: Hyperreality is the semantically postmodern condition of being unable to distinguish reality from the simulation of it. Today the merging of learned and imagined mythologies collide with indistinct spaces, virtual human relations and a cacophony of truths and non-truths. So how do emerging contemporary artists explore their lived and experienced hyperrealities? Show less
