  I am responsible for the operation and supervision of the Legal Division for the Department. I coordinate all of the Department’s litigation and legal issues with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. I am responsible for the administrative hearing process, juvenile rights, due process of law, and juvenile grievance program for all committed juveniles. I direct other attorney administrators in legal research and legislative issues. I provide legal counsel and advise the agency Director, Assistant Director, Investigations Bureau, Human Resources Office, employees, and attorneys. I serve as the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Coordinator for the Department. I am responsible for drafting contracts and inner governmental agreements (IGAs).   I served as an Administrative Law Judge for the State Board of Tax Appeals. I presided over formal judicial hearings involving complex legal issues in the areas of income, transaction privilege, use and luxury taxes. I reviewed appeals and supporting memoranda filed with the Board in making judicial findings. I conducted extensive legal research using independent judgment, discretion and initiative. I applied the rule of law in making determinations and wrote final orders and decisions.

I serve as the Board's legislative liaison, responsible for monitoring and drafting legislation, and advocating for changes to legislation.
