Following a highly successful year on placement, I am being sponsored to design a subsea diver tracking product for recreational divers.       Placement student for my sandwich year, as part of my degree. My role involved engineering design, with a large use of SolidWorks, as well as workshop experience in the manufacture of all variety of product prototypes, jigs and fixtures. I was given significant responsibility and freedom, being expected to manage my own time and projects effectively. I was involved in all areas of the design process, from designing products and prototypes to liaising with suppliers and manufacturing the job. Our solution was to provide an instructional booklet showing users how to upcycle oil drums into a smokeless fire pit.
