  1) Support the efforts to develop and implement the Safety management System.2) Plan and conduct internal audits and ensure that they are carried out by relevant Company representatives or persons appointed by the Company.3) Summarize statistical data and prepare recommendations for improvement, which are to be passed to the Managing Director and the Divisional Director, Risk, Safety and Quality. 4) Prepare for and participate in the annual Safety management System reviews.5) Liaise with the Vessel Flag and owners 6) Ensure legislative compliance . The responsibility, accountability and authority of the DPA includes the maintenance of nautical standards, the safety and pollution prevention aspect of the operation of the ships assigned to him/her, ensuring that adequate resources and shore based support are provided. 8) Work As Company security Officer ( CSO). The duties of CSO are• Ship assessments,• Advising port threat levels,• Arranging plan approvals,• Responding to Security reviews• Arranging Internal / External Audits for ships• Monitoring other security reports and ensuring that deficiencies are promptly addressed and dealt with.• Management of Security Alert system for the ships.
