      Postnatal Specialist

Catherine is a fully qualified postnatal specialist and facilitator with over ten years’ experience of working with parents. She has drawn on her professional background in learning and development to design a series of workshops specifically aimed at working parents. These presentations enable participants to explore themes such as needs within families, work/life balance, different parenting styles, attachment and trust.Having trained with and worked for the National Childbirth Trust – the largest parenting charity in the UK - Catherine has a solid grounding in evidence-based practice which ensures that sessions are underpinned with theory. She integrates this knowledge with her skills of facilitating and training. Show less

    • Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust

      Sept 2011 - Jul 2022

Working in a facilitative and communicative capacity, supporting families whose babies are hospitalised in the neonatal unit of the Royal Berkshire Hospital, immediately after birth due to prematurity or illness. These families experience high levels of stress, anxiety and trauma due to the ill health & hospitalisation of their infants; my role involves running support sessions throughout the week for parents, listening and supporting them by their babies' cotside, while liaising with senior clinical staff members over issues and themes raised by parents; feeding back on the wellbeing of families, and helping staff maintain the Unit's family-centred care philosophy by keeping parents' experiences and voices at the centre of their babies' care. The role also involves conducting presentations and workshops to staff to enhance their understanding of families' experiences on the unit as well as support the Unit's Charity in fundraising opportunities by conducting presentations to potential donors.
