  TITLE: To assess whether obesity is a major risk factor for early onset of osteoarthritis in women aged 40-50 years.The project was designed to see if obesity causes earlier onset of osteoarthritis in women. This was done by taking a survey from 60 women patients suffering from osteoarthritis from DRDO Township Bangalore, India and Command hospital Bangalore, India. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria the responses of 40 women were selected, categorized according to their BMI and their answers analysed, graphically represented & assessed. The survey covered 2 objectives – primary being obesity acting as a major factor for osteoarthritis and secondary being personal choice of lifestyle such as physical activities like mountain climbing , active jogging etc acting as another factor for early onset of the same .This was an individual project, which I started from designing the project to preparing the questionnaire and the final analysis. SPSS software was used for statistical analysis and I got an opportunity to communicate directly with patients for collection of data and documentation.
