It is integral to the Department's belief in the marriage of theory and practice. The program offers opportunity for the career development of prospective artists, art historians, museum and gallery professionals, curators; specifically for those who wish to pursue careers in art journalism, arts administration and management. The Department of Art and Art History is dedicated to liberal education in the creation and historical study of the visual arts.       Throughout my educational career I worked part-time with a local farming business in my hometown. The company farms and supplies gourmet fingerling potatoes nation wide in the United States and parts of Canada. In this role I developed maintained the file management system for the company's invoicing, logistics, titles, as employee files. I assisted the office director with hiring, general accounting, invoicing, human resources, organic produce certification applications, and regulatory farming inspection preparations mandated by New York State. This farm scaled dramatically throughout my career with them which necessitated excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail in my role. I left this position to gain more experience in the museum sector and improve my networking opportunities in the art world. Show less

      In this internship I worked closely with ARIAS's creative director to develop and create the designs for the spring 2021 season. In this position I conducted the market research for spring 2021 trends and created company mood boards to reflect the projected color direction, trending silhouettes, and fabrics. I served as liaison for our pattern makers, fabric printers, and production facilities while also conducting quality control checks in our factories.       Wine Guide

      I started this position during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In this role I was a wine guide for the tasting room for Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards at their Naples, NY location, Hazlitt Red Cat Cellars. In this role I learned extensively about the wine making process and became a retail expert on New York State wines. As a staff member of the tasting room we provided retail customer service, wine touring education, and drink service. As a tasting room employee we represented Hazlitts in the Canandaguia Wine Trail, which is a collaborative association between all the local distilleries and winery's on Canandaguia Lake. In this role I became NYS TIPS Trained, a requirement for all bartenders in New York State to keep in compliance with NYS regulations, this was a comprehensive course to educate servers on the safe serving practices of alcohol. I loved working with customers and customizing their wine tasting experience to their preferences and educating them on the New York Wine trails, traditions of wine making locally, as well as the history of the Hazlitt family. This position was fast paced and required flexibility and quick problem solving while providing consistent excellent customer service. Most of my time working with Hazlitts was spent during the COVID-19 pandemic and we upheld stringent cleaning regulations and PPE precautions to keep our staff and customers safe during the peaks and valleys of the pandemic, changes to regulations happened daily and all staff needed to be ready and up to date on the current precautions outlined by New York State. Professionalism in this position was held at the highest standard, as tasting room servers we were the face of the company and bridged the gap between the customers and the wine making process. Show less The Expanded Learning Collaboration program works along side the Rochester City School District to provide expanded education in art and art history. As a Teaching Assistant I work with other teaching artists and the education department at the Memorial Art Gallery to provide educational support and assistant with curriculum development. The program is hosted in sessions on Mondays and Fridays, part of our time is spent in the gallery where docents and teaching artist work together to outline art history concepts with the students. After the gallery, we return to the classroom where the teaching artist and myself introduce and work with students on studio art skills and art making practices that correlate with the outlined art history curriculum and learning objectives.This position was a seasonal position running September to June and ended on June 17, 2022. I relocated to Seattle the summer of 2022 and left my position with this program. I loved my time working with ELC and it expanded my passion for museum work as well as connecting me to a greater educational community. Show less
