In this role, patrons were both those affiliated with the university as well as community members. Access Services Assistant is involved in almost all parts of the book processing system including checking books in and out, book organization, and book retrieval. When a patron requires a specific resource, the Access Services Assistant utilizes research-based skills to navigate the WorldCat or the local systems to locate the resource and assist the patron in acquiring the resource. This may include connecting with other libraries on campus, helping the patron fill out InterLibrary Loan or Hold requests, or navigating the library itself. The Resident Advisor is responsible for creating programs targeted to the needs and interests of their community to promote educational opportunities on wellness, academics, advocacy, and more. The Resident Advisor helps provide support and respond to emergency situations, mediate conflicts, and act as a mandatory reporter. The CDA works directly with Resident Advisors and the Hall Coordinator for programming opportunities and to assess the needs, wants, and expectations of their communities.The CDA organizes educational programs for residents to gain skills for leadership, wellness, advocacy, and campus involvement and advises a group of student volunteers who host programs involving leadership opportunities, acts of service, educating peers on social justice issues, and community development, overseeing, managing, and utilizing a budget of $2500 to provide programs and events for residents in the Residence Hall. A CDA must utilize marketing and advertising skills with technological programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, and Canva. The CDA hosts weekly meetings with their student volunteers, Resident Advisors, and Hall Coordinator(s) to address resident concerns and educate on changes to policies and procedures, identify students' strengths, and connect residents to extra-curricular activities in areas of interest.
