      During the summer of 2016 I completed a six-week (240 hour) Event Management work placement in the Town of Middleton, Annapolis Country, Nova Scotia, Canada. This consisted of planning and implementing various public activities and events for the local community.The most significant event for the town was “Heart of the Valley Days” which took place on 15th and 16th July, 2016. I was heavily involved in the preparation for this two day event, in the office, around the town and on site. The completion not less than a 210 hour work placement was required by Southampton Solent University as part of a BA (Hons) Event Management degree. Show less

      Herm Island is a unique place without any cars. During the summer season up to 100,000 tourists visit. As a member of the Service Team I was involved extensively with customer interaction taking goods and supplies to holiday cottages, beach cafes, the pub and shop. This involved the use of Quad bikes and tractors. In the winter months my duties where estate maintenance. The Summer season involved a six day week. My duties gave me a good insight into the challenges of of operating a hospitality and events centre where teamwork was vital. Show less
