      The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA), under the authority of the Emergency Management Act, leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. AEMA is responsible to support a comprehensive approach to managing emergencies in the province.Regional Field Officer is the primary interface between AEMA programs and AEMA stakeholders; including but not limited to: municipalities, First Nation communities, Metis Settlements and elected officials and responsible for the provision of direct emergency management support and advice to Alberta municipalities, First Nations and Metis Settlements including:* Assisting local authorities with emergency response activities.* Assisting local governments with the development of all-hazard and hazard specific plans.* Delivering and/or coordinating emergency management training and resources.* Assisting in the application processes for grants including disaster recovery programs and Emergency Preparedness Program Grants.* Conducting local authority plan/program reviews.* Evaluation of the effectiveness of preparedness and prevention strategies under legislation or as dictated by best practices programs.* Support the development and execution of local/regional exercises.* Provide emergency management subject matter expertise during the response to and recovery from disasters and large scale emergencies.
