      Volunteer

I volunteer on Saturday mornings with a session that encourages children aged 5-11 to read for pleasure. Enjoying stories, books and poems is essential for children to become confident and fluent readers. The sessions are fun, engaging and also offer craft activities that are linked to the books we have been reading.

    • Little Lamb Tales

      Mar 2014 - now

I was a teacher who loved writing, now I'm an author who loves storytelling. During my 18 year career as an Early Years and KS1 teacher, I was constantly writing stories, poems, jingles and Christmas plays for the children in my classes. But it was only around 2010 that I started to explore the idea of actually putting those stories into books. Winning the Disney Winnie the Pooh Laureate for the North West competition in 2014 gave me the confidence to believe in myself as a writer and following that, I published my first book The Dragon of Allerton Oak in 2015.Since then, I've published or contributed to more than 20 books covering a range of topics and genres including picture books and chapter books for children and short stories and a novel for adults.I am Patron of Reading and love spending time in schools providing a range of services including - Author Talks for Nursery to Year 6Storytelling sessions for Nursery to Year 6Creative Writing Sessions for Y1 to Year 6.I'm passionate about books, reading, words and stories and encouraging children to feel the same.
