The award is named for Rob Stewart, a film maker and shark conservationist, whose work heavily influenced the current discourse on global shark conservation, especially the fin trade. The research undertaken while funded by this award was a global assessment of the functional diversity and biogeography of reef sharks and rays using baited remote underwater video data from over 370 coral reefs around the world (supervised by Dr. M. Aaron MacNeil with Global FinPrint). This research is in preparation for an undergraduate Honours thesis. Show less
