During my PhD I analysed data collected by the CMS experiment at CERN. With the help of Monte Carlo simulations, I reconstructed data events and investigated how to enhance the signal-to-background ratio. Further, I constructed and applied methods to estimate the relevant systematic and statistical uncertainties. As a consequence, I have a lot of hands-on experience with C/C++, interfaced with statistical toolkits.Besides, I was also involved in- Development of software for data quality monitoringThis includes both the maintenance of existing tools and the development of new classes, e.g. for new detector features.- Shifts to monitor the CMS tracker during operationDuring these shifts I coordinated all daily activities concerning the silicon strip tracker, I monitored the conditions of the detector to ensure safe operation and I was responsible for the quality of the data taken.- Peer-review of scientific papers Show less
