      Student Researcher

      Cultivated microorganisms from soil samples to discover unknown bacteria that can produce novel antibiotics. Antibiotic producers were identified through sequencing and biochemical testing, the antibiotics were isolated, and all data was uploaded to the Tiny Earth Database to compare with other students' findings.Researched under Professor Audino at GBCC, funded by NH-INBRE through an Institutional Development Award (IDeA), P20GM103506, from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the NIH.Presented at the 2023 NH - INBRE conference at the OMNI Mount Washington resort.       Formulated bio-inks to 3D print with human neural stem cells, to mimic brain tissue, with the goal of enhancing the study of three-dimensional drug delivery systems for drug modeling. Bio-inks are characterized for their rheological properties and biocompatibility, and the stem cells encased in the bioinks are analyzed on their growth and differentiation into other cell lines, to understand how to best model the in vivo microenvironment. Researching under Dr. Suh at UNH Manchester, funded by NSF Award #IIA 1757371 through NH BioMade.Presented at the 2023 ASCB Cell Bio Conference in Boston and at the 2023 Winter Symposium at UNH Manchester.
