As the IT Specialist, I built and maintained the computer network at the club. I was responsible for purchasing and installing computer-related hardware and software for the club. I trained the staff on MS Office, Network Security, and minor troubleshooting with some basic PC literacy thrown in. I taught the NetSmartz, Club Tech, and Robo Tech programs. The NetSmartz program involved safe practices while on the internet, avoiding being instigators and victims of cyberbullying and spotting suspicious activity in chat rooms of social media sites. Club Tech taught them how to identify parts of a computer, build webpages, and create spreadsheets, word documents, and PowerPoint presentations. The Robo Tech program prepared them to make working robots using Lego Mindstorm kits and programming them to perform basic commands. Show less
