  Mr. Matthews was placed under contract with Simon & Schuster Publishing two-years into the writing of his novel. Pinched between two mountain ranges in a remote Alaska valley, a man in shock lies in a pool of his own blood no longer able to see. The 600 pound grizzly had come out of nowhere unleashing a mauling no man should have ever survived. When his brother finally reached him the only words Greg could get out was "I think I'm dying". Miles from the closest help, a mile and half walk out back to the boat, and a 12 mile boat ride, the odds of getting out alive were slim to none. To survive the ordeal the brothers would be tested to the brink of both physical and mental collapse. Its not over until God says its over and in the midst of giving up He showed up in an miraculous way. To see the hand of God literally move before me to save my life brings me to tears even today.
