  Collecting fish samples at certain sites within Sandy Creek in and around Albion, New York. These included specimen samples, water samples, depth/width readings, turbidity measurements and flow speed readings. This research was used for a graduate student’s thesis research in Environmental Science. The thesis dealt with population density of minnows in certain parts of Sandy Creek.

  Assisted in sampling for native Freshwater Mussels (Unionidae) as well as stream analyses throughout the tributaries of Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes. This required the use of GPS, pH and conductivity meters as well as calculations of stream velocity and the identification of stream macroinvertibrates. The survey was part of ongoing analyses of Freshwater Mussel species throughout upstate New York, funded by the State Wildlife Grant. This project also required the use of programs such as GIS and Microsoft Access for data entry. Show less
