Show less • Lead a team of three responsible for identifying distressed debt in the regional lending book, East of England including Credit Stewardship testing and reporting• Responsible for auditing analyst reviews; preparing and analysing and disseminating large volumes of data; keeping abreast of market and economic developments and factoring those into decision making• Collaboration with other business partners and stakeholders on a regular basis• Membership of the regional board of the immediate business and also of the national ‘Problem Identification’ board with peers from other regions influencing strategic direction• Owned and maintained national website dedicated to the Problem Identification team• Member of project working group responsible for workflow eflex tool known as PISCES Show less • Promoted to lower managerial grade to join this highly successful and highly motivated team of individuals which largely concentrated on Real Estate Deals typically of £1m+ alongside provision of Banking facilities for professional firms• Responsible for best in class credit stewardship in the unit initially and in the first year or so I achieved tangible improvements in Credit Stewardship reviews for all managers in the unit regarding excess management, timely credit reporting and data quality amongst others• Mid term I was asked to manage a deal team of between 8-10 support personnel involved in delivering deals accurately and on time often against very tight deadlines. The role included strong written and oral customer communication, securities, loan documentation, credit reporting, account opening, authorisation of high value payments, workflow management and liaison with Senior Relationship Managers within the unit and performance management of staff reporting to me• In the last couple of years at this office, the structure changed and I was asked to lead a team of four upper appointed managers in a deal origination team which looked after the unit’s highest borrowers and most valued clients. As well as managing this team I personally looked after three of the units biggest borrowers collectively borrowing c.£130m between them. This involved being the main customer contact, writing credit reports, completing property and pricing models to support credit submissions, commissioning valuation reports, documentation, and securities and attending customer meetings with the unit Directors. The emphasis was very much on bringing the deal ‘across the line’ against stretching deadlines and for some very demanding customers.• Received a regional nomination for an outstanding achiever award in 2008 for the category of team oriented as a result of my work in delivering deals in this period. Show less • A restructure enabled me to move on from Operations and I retrained as a Credit Analyst within the same unit at a trainee grade. After two years of on-the-job training and course attendance in the standard suite of credit courses I was promoted in 4/1999.• Responsibilities included consideration and analysis of all aspects of lending from new business proposals to problem management cases including understanding business plans, financial analysis and forecasting. I also spent a full year with the specialised risk management team within the unit. I have dealt with numerous highly leveraged proposals and all key sectors with predominance in property lending.• I contributed fully to the integration of the RBS and NatWest business in 2000 as part of a team of c.6 from Credit that delivered training to the entire UK-based NatWest Relationship teams on the use of RM Platform (internal credit reporting and database system). This involved travelling to different offices to deliver training and also sessions to larger groups at venues in Central London. I used power point slide shows and hand outs to deliver this training and was involved in logistical decisions regarding arrangements at the chosen venues. Show less • Promoted to upper appointed grade to join the regional lending unit initially based at Regents House, Islington• Led and line-managed a small operations team of three which dealt with keying of management information for the unit and secretarial duties.• I was primarily responsible for the LAN administration for the department and encountered a steep learning curve having had relatively little exposure to computing at that point. I attended numerous courses regarding Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel, and Access and also a Novell Administrators Course. I also attended a course regarding training in ‘Quest’ a SQL database client tool. This enabled me to query the department database and the lending application system at that time to produce management information for the Head of the Unit regarding lending volumes, workflow performance and sector trends.• I also provided best in class technical PC support to a department of 30 people. Show less • I joined the organisation at Belgravia Branch in the West End of London as an office junior undertaking standard duties such as account opening, standing orders/direct debits, back office, cashiering, documentary credits and personal advances.• I became a supervisor and led a small team of staff which had general clerical duties, as above.• In 5/1993 I transferred to South Kensington Branch as Operations Supervisor and latterly took over as Customer Services Manager at what was a very busy counter. Responsibilities included performance management for the branch team, key holding, branch cash and complaint management.• In 6/1994 I returned to the newly formed Belgravia Corporate Centre as Supervisor of Corporate Operations providing clerical support to a team of 7 relationship managers as well as managing the section.
