    • REU Marine Science and Engineering in China

      Jun 2005 - Aug 2005
      REU Student

I collaborated with students at the Dalian Institute of Technology in Dalian, China for 10 weeks. I used the finite element analysis program ANSYS to model multifunctional materials. My responsibilities also included presenting my work and giving a presentation on American culture for Chinese students.

    • NASA Academy

      Jun 2006 - Aug 2006
      Academy Associate

I was chosen to participate in the highly selective NASA Academy program. I worked on a project titled "Defining the Lunar Pole Environment" which included literature review and matlab simulation. I also was responsible for creating and presenting a poster to describe my work.

    • University of Virginia

      Aug 2006 - Aug 2013
      PhD

My area of study was the spin structure of the nucleon. I worked with polarized targets and analyzed data from electron scattering experiments in order to investigate the distribution of spin within the deuteron.

    • Ecotope, Inc.

      Dec 2013 - Sept 2016
      Research Analyst

I have monitored the quality of incoming data for a whole-home energy metering project that spanned the Pacific Northwest and I've contributed to analyses of this metering data. I've helped coordinate data collection for metering projects and used R to create data handling and analysis scripts. I have also worked extensively with the simulation program "SEEM", written in C, extending its functionality for the simulation of heat pump water heaters and maintaining its cross-platform compatibility. I worked closely with HPWHsim, the open source heat pump water heater simulation, and took the lead in redeveloping it in C++. Duties included coordinating the laboratory testing of Heat Pump Water Heaters, maintaining HPWHsim, and setting up metering and analyzing the data for energy usage in buildings. Show less

    • MHKKG

      Jan 2017 - Sept 2017
      Technical Advisor

I wrote patents and helped move patents through the patent system. This job required quickly understanding unfamiliar technologies and describing them in a thorough way.

    • Strangeworks

      May 2018 - May 2018
      Contractor

Investigated and adapted quantum computing framework for cross compilation.

    • Pinpoint

      Jan 2019 - Nov 2020
      Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist at Pinpoint, I used machine learning techniques to create models and predictions using data from code and work tracking systems like GitHub and Jira.
