Screening and application assistance for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which was formerly called Food Support or Food Stamps. Facilitate the process of applying for SNAP which includes screening client for eligibility, explaining the process in detail, answering questions, and following-up through out to ensure actual application process is completed, which includes a client interview with a county financial worker and provision of supporting documents to the county. Specific focus on 5 county region in south-central Minnesota including Blue Earth, Brown, Le Sueuer, Nicollet and Watonwan counties. However, I help anyone in the state of Minnesota. Most of this work is done over the telephone, text or internet. In these 5 counties, however, I attend meetings and schedule site visits to area agencies and provide in person assistance. Making referrals to other area resources is part of what I do. I present to a variety of groups and individuals tackling myths with facts, updating people's perception of hunger and poverty and educating people about the resources available. Show less
